In the event of an emergency, such as a ride failure, fire, or crowd control issue, the carnival area may need to be closed or isolated. Follow these steps carefully to ensure safety:
- Stop the Ride or Game: Immediately cease all operations.
- Raise the Alarm: Contact security and emergency services by dialing *9704 1020*.
- Maintain Lighting: Keep the ride or game lights on to aid incident response, unless it poses a safety risk.
- Stop Music: Turn off any music to help patrons hear evacuation instructions.
- Control Entry: Assign staff to prevent new patrons from entering the ride.
- Clear the Entry Point: Ensure the entry area is clear to allow emergency services easy access.
- Evacuate Patrons: Assist all patrons in evacuating the ride, paying special attention to those with mobility impairments.
- Account for Everyone: Conduct a quick search of the area to ensure all individuals are accounted for.
- Do Not Move Casualties: Only move injured persons if they are in immediate danger.
- Support Casualties: Stay with any casualties and provide necessary assistance.
Redirect Patrons: Guide patrons away from the ride to a safe area.
- Await Further Instructions: Stay put and listen for directions from security or emergency services.
- Assist Emergency Personnel: Provide help to security and emergency services if requested.
- Handle Media Inquiries: Direct any media questions to RAS and keep a record of the incident.
Important Notes
Do Not Restart the Ride: Wait for permission from RAS and SafeWork NSW before resuming operations.
Keep Access Lane Clear: Ensure the emergency service access lane remains unobstructed. This access lane is marked on the carnival map; seek clarification during setup if needed.
